JEB Stuart Monument in Richmond Vandalized In Wake of Confederate Witch Hunt

Just before 7:00 a.m. this morning, an early morning monument patrol discovered that the J.E.B Stuart monument on Monument Avenue in Richmond had been vandalized.  Our last report from Monument Guards the night before meant that the crime occurred sometime in the hours just before dawn  Our folks contacted Richmond Police who immediately arrived on the scene and let us know that cleaning crews were on the way.  What we thought might be engine oil of some sort, turned out to be pine tar, which made the removal a bit more challenging.

Crews have been working all day, and we have had Monument Guards on the scene.  As of 3:00 this afternoon, much progress has been made, with several crews on the scene and removal almost complete.

The Va Flaggers would like to express our thanks to the Richmond Police Department and the City of Richmond for their prompt attention to the desecration of the memorial.  We commend Mayor Stoney for his statement that Richmond would not tolerate violence and destruction, and hope that the perpetrators of this crime are quickly apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  We trust that our city officials will not allow our community to dissolve into that which is represented in Charlottesville today, where mob rule has set in, and intimidation with violence and vandalism are rewarded with capitulation and pandering.

Over 70% of our citizens believe monuments and memorials should be left in place, and no amount of vandalism or violence by the monument destroyers should drown out the voice of the rational majority and allow this magnificent historical landmark to be destroyed.

In light of this incident, we will be stepping up our monument patrols in the days and nights to come.  .

Richmond Mayor Attempst to Exploit Charlottesville Tragedy, Calls for Removal of Confederate Memorials on Monument Avenue

The Virginia Flaggers are deeply disturbed that Richmond’s Mayor has chosen to attempt to shamelessly capitalize on the tragedy in Charlottesville by suddenly changing course and directing the Monument Avenue Commission to pursue the removal of the monuments on Richmond’s majestic Monument Avenue as a viable option.  Instead of seeking to work with and represent all of his constituents, he has chosen to escalate tensions and encourage lawlessness, such as was witnessed by the violent anarchist Antifa march in Richmond Sunday night, and which will certainly be amplified with his announcement.

Mayor Stoney is fully aware that discussion of the removal of ANY veteran’s monument in the Commonwealth is a waste of time as it is a violation of state law and any attempt to do so will cost the city millions in legal fees and damages, while creating division and disunity among her residents.  The citizens of the Commonwealth overwhelmingly oppose removal of memorials and the thousands of direct descendants of Confederate veterans are not going to sit by quietly and allow our history and heritage to be dismantled to appease a few extremists.

We call on the Mayor to do the right thing for the community, and what citizens suggested over and over in the public meeting just last week (and which he would have heard had he attended) …leave the existing monuments alone and pursue the development and construction of new monuments in other areas of the city.

Violent Mob Destroys Confederate Memorial in North Carolina

Durham, NC August 14, 2017.  A violent mob of protestors marched through the streets of Durham after tearing down and destroying the top of the Confederate monument at the courthouse.  Police and county officials on the scene stood back and videoed the crimes, but did nothing to stop the vandalism and destruction.

When I see the photo above, I immediately think about that mother, who sent her brave, young son off to war and went to her grave NEVER knowing his final resting place. I think of this monument, in his home town that may very well be the only grave marker he ever had...and I see this pond scum tearing down and desecrating what is, essentially, his grave, and I am driven to rage.
After a firestorm of emails, phone calls and complaints from angry residents, Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews announced this morning that they are reviewing video and "working to identify those responsible".

While this is a good start, it is not enough.

Please call the Durham County Sheriff's office at (919) 560-0897 and ask why they did not stop this crime when it was in progress and demand that the criminals be brought to justice.

Photos this morning showed the damaged and twisted statue of the soldier had been removed from the courthouse lawn.  Concerned it had been stolen, we contacted Durham County officials who confirmed that the statue was in their possession and informed us that they would be holding a 1:00 pm press conference to share more information.

We ask that you also contact the Durham County Clerk (919) 560-0025 and the County Commissioner (919) 569-0000 and ask what they are going to do about assisting with the prosecuting the criminals and repairing and replacing the monument as soon as possible.

Folks, if this kind of mob rule is allowed to stand, we will see it repeated across this country.  It's time WE make some noise and let officials know that we will not sit back and watch this illegal and immoral destruction of our sacred memorials.

We heard from many of you who have formed informal monument guards and are checking in on the monuments in your area.  We encourage you to check with your local officials and inquire about additional security and protection during this time of unrest and violence directed at our monuments and memorials.

Violent Antifa Mob Marches Through Richmond Streets:Citizens Assaulted, J.E.B. Stuart Memorial Temporarily Defiled

On Sunday evening, August 14th, our monument guards were on duty in the Capital of the Confederacy, concerned about the anti-Confederate violence that had escalated over the weekend.  Late in the evening, they noticed a heavy police presence at the LEE monument, and were informed that a group of protestors had taken to the streets and were marching to Monument Avenue from VCU.

Their original destination was the LEE monument, but Capitol and State Police had the LEE Monument surrounded and protected.  Turned away, the mob moved down the street toward the J.E.B. Stuart monument, and attempted to stop us from approaching the scene.  One of the protestors brandished a rifle and told the monument guards to stay away “for their own good”.  We later learned that the participants used intimidation tactics like this throughout the illegal, un-permitted march.

When they reached the J.E.B. Stuart monument, they proceeded to climb on the monument and tie an ANTIFA flag to the magnificent statue.  Our Monument Guards notified Richmond Police, who immediately dispatched Richmond Fire to bring a truck to remove the desecration.

Many thanks to those who helped restore the monument, and to the Monument Guards who kept watch during a very stressful and dangerous night.

At least one person was arrested, and a TV6 video journalist was assaulted and received medical treatment during the illegal march through the streets, where participants carried Antifa flags and banners and shouted "F*** the police"   "Take down the monuments. Death to all Confederates" and " "We're here. We're gay. We fight the KKK."
What is Antifa? Read about them here:  https://spectator.org/radical-anti-fascists-are-pretty-darn-fascist/

We are thankful that there was no further damage to our sacred memorials overnight, and will be stepping up our patrols over the coming days and weeks.  If you would like to assist with this endeavor, please contact us at info@vaflaggers.com.

Dixie Rising: Patriots Prepare to Defend Monuments in the Capital of the Confederacy

LEE Monument, Monument Avenue, Richmond.
Photo by RVA Monument Guards, August, 2017

As we reported earlier, Richmond Mayor Lamar Stoney has appointed a commission to “study” Confederate monuments on Richmond’s famed Monument Avenue.  In his press conference to announce his intentions, the Mayor regurgitated the false narrative as has been circulated by groups such as the ANTIFA anarchists, SPLC, and NAACP, and that which was used by the liberals in Charlottesville in their crusade to destroy the Confederate monuments there.  Stoney calls the men honored by these monuments “architects and defenders of slavery” and claims that the monuments were erected “to perpetuate the tyranny and terror of Jim Crow and reassert a new era of white supremacy.”  The mayor recognizes that the monuments are protected by Virginia state law and cannot be removed, but he has made it clear that he would tear them down if he could.  At the close of the press conference, he revealed his true intentions, when he called contextualizing a “first step” in the process.

The commission is a stacked deck of folks who think like Stoney and who have social and political biases against our history and heritage.  They will attempt to appeal to Richmonders, who overwhelmingly are AGAINST monument removal, by offering this “compromise” of contextualization, hoping that we will go along with desecration since the monuments appear to be safe from removal.

The Va Flaggers are steadfastly opposed to the addition of ANY context to ANY of our Confederate monuments or memorials and will use all available resources to prevent it from happening.

Our monuments and memorials need NO PC context or “interpretation”.  Our grandmothers carved their meaning in stone and each memorial speaks for itself.  They are memorials to honor the men who fought and died to protect the Commonwealth and Richmond, and neither Mayor Stoney, nor the members of the commission have the right to judge or condemn the memorials, the memory of our loved ones, or our grandmothers and surviving veterans who erected them.

If Mayor Stoney get his way and signage is added with the false narratives he is pushing, vandalism on the grand avenue will increase as it will agitate and stir up the anarchists who are already screaming for their destruction.  Richmond’s otherwise tranquil Monument Avenue will be transformed into chaos, the likes of which we saw and continue to see in New Orleans, before, after, and during the monument destruction there.  Crime will increase and property values will plummet.

We stand committed to protecting Richmond’s Confederate memorials and monuments, but we need YOUR help.  Here’s what you can do…

ATTEND THE PUBLIC MEETINGS.  The Mayor’s Monument Avenue Commission has set up two public hearings to get input from citizens.  It is IMPERATIVE that we have a huge presence at this meetings.  Even if you do not wish to speak, PLEASE still plan to be in attendance.  We will have signs and flyers available, and information to distribute.

Public Meeting Schedule:
Wednesday, August 9, 6:30 p.m.  Virginia Historical Society 428 N. Boulevard
Wednesday, September 13, 6:30 p.m.  Virginia Historical Society, 428 N. Boulevard

We encourage everyone to arrive EARLY and be waiting when the doors open.  The commission had promised to publish guidelines for speaking on their website, but as of this morning, nothing has appeared.  www.monumentavenuecommission.org

CONTACT COMMISSION MEMBERS:  Look for a separate email with information on each commission member and details on how to contact them.  We urge everyone to contact each member and make the case for NO context.  We are compiling the list now and will have it released in the next 24 hours.

ATTEND THE LEE MONUMENT RALLY IN SEPTEMBER:  Our friends at Save Southern Heritage have obtained a permit from the Capitol Police for a rally at the LEE Monument on Monument Avenue in Richmond for Saturday, September 16 at NOON.  We will be supporting their efforts and  need a HUGE showing of patriotic Southerners to make a statement to Mayor Stoney, the commission, and the entire city of Richmond.  Watch for more details, coming soon, but save the date and make plans to attend and bring as many folks as you can.

The destruction of our monuments and memorials in New Orleans has caused what can only be described as a great awakening across America.  Here in Virginia, Corey Stewart, with almost no name recognition and very little money, came within 1% of winning the Republican nomination for Governor against a powerhouse establishment candidate with full coffers, after publicly condemning the attempts to tear down monuments and memorials in Charlottesville.  Good people, north and South of the Mason-Dixon line are sick and tired of officals pandering to a small, but very vocal and violent percentage of the population.

The Capital of the Confederacy is shaping up to be the next battle ground.  We fully expect victory, but will need your help to make it happen

Silver Lining: Massive Confederate Flags in Danville, VA Double as Yankee/Scalawag/Carpetbagger Repellent

True story out of Danville: a realtor was showing a couple around town. They were transferring from New York. When they passed the first giant battle flag, the couple expressed concern but the realtor explained about the history and heritage of Danville being the last Capital of the Confederacy and they seemed to accept the explanation . When they passed the second flag he repeated the information and the wife, who was seated in the back seat, appeared shaken. After passing a THIRD flag, the wife leans up and whispers into her husband's ear, at which time the man turns to the realtor and tells him that he can cut the house hunting short because they would NOT be moving to Danville, Virginia.

It seems our giant beautiful flags serve yet another useful purpose: Yankee/carpetbagger repellent!
You're welcome, Danville!
